Love this. It is exactly what I am writing about in my doctoral thesis, the importance of understanding the stories that shape us and how we might cultivate alternative stories of regeneration.
I never thought of stories as ecology. Thank you so much for expanding my mind. I think this is what I've been feeling, this is the urge that calls me but did not have shape, didn't know how to place it; your writing, this article helps me materialise it. Both in my heart and by consequence it will gently sip out to paper.
At the moment I'm still experimenting, finding my purpose in writing. I’ll re-read this piece — it will help soften the doubt that my voice, stories, or ideas are too little, too goofy, or irrelevant.
I’d love to hear more about the circle you’re building. It sounds like a place I could learn so much from.
I believe many of us carry these quiet, persistent feelings that don't quite have a form yet… and sometimes, all it takes is finding the right story, metaphor or rhythm to help it surface. I’m so glad this piece helped give it language.
And please know your voice, your stories, your “goofy” ideas — they are part of the ecology too. Every story, especially the ones that feel soft and strange and tender, helps shift the terrain.

I appreciate this very much. You’ve articulated with gorgeous clarity what I’ve been cultivating in practice (less nuanced clarity than you)- what you’re calling regenerative storytelling I’m describing as re-storying with my groups exploring Rites of passage. Noticing the stories, dismantling them and composting! I love how we and it seems others here are doing similar work! Literally tending to the roots! Love love love 🖤🖤🖤
I love how you describe your work as re-storying in the context of rites of passage - noticing, dismantling, composting. That metaphor of compost feels so alive to me too - honouring what came before while creating fertile ground for something new to emerge.
It is heartening to know this collective tending is happening in many places. Truly, we are not alone in this work and that gives me hope.
So much to think about in here. Love what you write about; collective, regenerative storytelling, imagining other ways of living that we think we cannot imagine… very inspired by your writing.
I truly believe that collective, regenerative storytelling can help us loosen the grip of old narratives and open up space for new possibilities to take root.
I am always heartened to know others are exploring these questions too — it gives me hope that we’re slowly weaving these alternative futures together.
Absolutely loved what you wrote. I’m a culture shaper and shifter and with my strong comms background I’m always encouraging storytelling as one of the levers to pull to help shift snd build momentum to create a movement.
What you’ve written has given me great food for thought 🙏
I am really glad the piece offered some new reflections and I'd love to stay connected and hear more about your work in culture-shifting as well. It's heartening to know that many of us are pulling similar threads in different spaces.
I am truly heartened to know others are tending to this work with such care and intention. Let’s stay connected, I'd love to hear more about your journey and how you are weaving these futures into being.
Ooooh, I’m taking lots of notes from this because it’s exactly the type of creative ecosystem that needs to be created for the betterment of all of us.
